The residents of Binalbagan have access to both private and public
education at all levels. This provides opportunity for even the poor to
be educated.
Presently there are pre-schools in the municipality. These are St. Mary's Angels Kindergarten, Fellowship Center Baptist Church Kindergarten, Berean Baptist Learning Center, Nazarene Learning Center, Binalbagan Elementary School and Payao Christian Learning Center. Except for the later which is located in Brgy. Payao, all are in the poblacion.
At present there are five (5) public primary schools in the municipality. For the elementary level, there are twenty-six (26) public schools and one (1) private school. The other private school, Southern Negros College closed its elementary department in 1994. Of the twenty-six (26) public schools, fourteen (14) belong to District I while twelve (12) belong to District II. All barangays in Binalbagan have public elementary schools.
There are seven (7) secondary
schools in the municipality. Four (4) are public while three (3) are private.
Two public secondary schools are national high schools. These schools
are Pagla-um National high School and Payao National High School. Two
private secondary schools, Binalbagan Catholic College and Southern Negros
College are both located in the poblacion while another, San Blas Academy
located in Brgy. Payao.
For tertiary education, there is a choice among one (1) public school,
the Neg. Occ. School of Fisheries and two (2) private schools, namely:
Binalbagan Catholic College and Southern Negros College. All schools are
located in the poblacion.
